When compared with peers, Axis Bank looks less appetising with regard to cost of funds, loan growth, corporate non-performing assets (NPAs) and net interest income.


Axis Bank’s takeover of Citi India’s retail banking operation has hogged the limelight. But that deal probably reflects more than just Axis Bank’s plan to expand its credit card and loan book. It is in part a culmination of the efforts the new management team had undertaken over the last four years to recast its growth area. Will this lead to sustained re-rating for Axis?
